Cherry Wood Bowl — Natural Check, Warm Grain, Dining Table Ready
A hand-turned Northeast Ohio cherry bowl with natural character, a small original rim check, and a food-safe hand-rubbed oil finish.
In the home
Spanning 10 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches high, this cherry centerpiece bowl carries an unpretentious, quiet dignity. It lived on my own dining table for a time before finding a permanent home with a friend—a testament to its balanced proportions, warm amber tone, and versatile everyday utility.
Designed to serve as a dining room centerpiece or kitchen island fruit bowl, the wide open geometry handles everyday use while displaying the natural grain flow across the wide face.
Wood, shape, and finish
Milled from a local Northeast Ohio cherry log, the timber features smooth growth rings and rich reddish-amber heartwood. A small natural seasoning check formed on the rim during curing—a natural drying characteristic that was stabilized with clear adhesive and left intact as authentic tree provenance.
The form is wide and open, turned with a comfortable wall weight and a clean rim curve. Like all natural cherry, light exposure will continue to deepen its warm amber tone over time.
Finished with a food-safe hand-rubbed oil, the surface keeps the cherry feeling like natural wood without any artificial stain or heavy lacquer. Care requires simple wiping with a damp cloth and drying promptly; avoid soaking and dishwashers.
