Apple Wood Live Edge Bowl — Handcrafted Rustic Dining Centerpiece
A hand-turned apple wood live-edge bowl with an organic natural rim, warm grain, and polymerized tung oil finish. An organic accent for dining tables, entry consoles, and sideboards.
In the home
Spanning 9.5 inches across with an undulating organic rim, this live-edge apple wood bowl brings natural tree character into a living space. The rim follows the natural contour of the outer log, while the turned interior cavity displays warm fruitwood tones.
Designed as an organic accent for a dining table, entryway console, or open display shelf, it works wonderfully for dry fruit serving or as a standalone centerpiece.
Wood, shape, and finish
Apple wood features a warm, reddish-tan heartwood surrounded by creamy sapwood. Turning a live-edge bowl while green (wet) allows the wood to warp slightly as it dries, resulting in an asymmetrical rim profile unique to the drying tensions of the specific branch section.
The piece was turned down to quarter-inch wall thickness and dried cleanly without cracking.
Finished with Sutherland Welles polymerized tung oil, the finish deeply hydrates the dense wood fibers while preserving the rough live edge. Once cured, the finish is food-safe for dry use. Care requires light wiping with a damp cloth and drying immediately.
