The electric blue translucent resin fills narrow natural checks near the upper rim, offering a subtle pop of color while allowing the rippled oak burl figure to dominate the form.
Wood, shape, and finish
White oak burl is wild, unpredictable timber featuring tight swirl eyes, rippled grain, and natural drying voids. Hollow-turning a large burl blank requires careful tool control to work past voids without tearing out delicate grain clusters.
Rather than hiding original drying checks, the cracks were filled with deep blue resin, stabilizing the structure while leaving a clean graphic trace.
Finished with multiple coats of Waterlox tung oil resin varnish, the finish penetrates deep into the burl eyes, curing to a durable high-gloss luster that enhances light reflection across the curved walls. Designed for dry display only; wipe clean with a soft dry cloth.
